Duo Vespertilio is Tanya Burka and Sidonie Adamson.
Their act combines dynamic spin work with dramatic displays of flexibility and unique porting sequences. Sido and Tanya also both have strong solo aerial acts, Tanya does clown, roller-dance, apnea and lockpicks handcuffs, and Sidonie does burlesque, bubble-blowing and unicycle.
"Vespertilio" is Latin for bat, and means "little evening one" - perfect for performers who spend their lives in dark theatres, hanging upside down!
Tanya Burka is a graduate of Montreal's renowned National Circus School with a specialty in aerial silks, aerial hoop, and acrobatic clown. Tanya has performed across Europe, Asia, and North America with grand-scale touring productions like Cirque du Soleil, as well as in more intimate cabaret venues, regional tours, corporate events and festivals. She has a portfolio in stage management, coaching and assistant direction alongside her stage career. Tanya likes cats, pastries, and telling people she used to be an nuclear engineer. No lie.
Sidonie Adamson is a multidisciplinary circus artist who began her career as an inaugural member of Circus West's professional troupe "The Avatar Circus Project" in Vancouver. She has since worked internationally with companies such as les 7 doigts de la main, Shocap Entertainment, Aida Cruise Lines and Anystage Productions. She is also an aerial coach and emerging burlesque performer. Sido likes cats, olives, and torturing people as a certified fitness trainer.
